“I commend the Polytechnic Institute of Northern Canada and the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) for establishing the first Center of Excellence in Logistics Learning in Northern Canada. This great initiative will serve as a catalyst to advance the priorities we formulated in the Northwest Territories (NWT) Transportation Strategy 2015-2040. The road, air, rail, and marine transportation systems play a critical role in the history and development of the NWT and continue to support sustainable communities and a growing economy into the future.”

Tom Beaulieu,
Former Minister of NWT Transportation and The Polytechnic Institute of Northern Canada Indigenous Advisor.

What makes us different in Canada

Inclusive and equitable access

The Polytechnic Institute of Northern Canada is dedicated to providing accessible, inclusive programs that accommodate learners from diverse backgrounds and educational goals. Through a range of short programs and flexible learning pathways, enables learners to pursue professional microcredentials and recognized designations tailored to evolving workforce needs.

Community-centred education

We understand that leaving one’s community for school can be very challenging, and we have a variety of online learning options for that very reason.

Alternative academic assessment

At the Polytechnic Institute of Northern Canada, we recognize that traditional examinations are not the sole or most effective measure of student learning. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation of knowledge and skills, our assessment approach incorporates a balanced mix of individual and group assignments, in-class discussions, and applied, project-based work.
